Weaving Wicker Baskets with Fiona Gavino

Learn the art of cane basket weaving and create pieces of different sizes to take away with you. This traditional technique is easy to learn and can be used with a number of materials. Plant fibres will be discussed and provided.

Materials:-

  •  A materials fee is included in the cost of the course

What to bring:-

  • Sharp scissors/secateurs/wire cutters or round nose pliers
  • Large darning needle
  • Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons
  • We suggest bringing your own lunch as cafes in the vicinity can be very busy during peak periods

Tutor Fiona Gavino

Fiona Gavino is a nationally-recognised fibre artist who uses basket making materials and techniques in innovative ways. She has been teaching for over 15 years, her classes provide a fun and practical introduction to basketry that will allow students to continue sourcing and creating their own beautiful works well after the class is over.
