FREMANTLE ARTS CENTRE STUDIOS

Our Studio Program offers artists from all disciplines the opportunity to explore and develop works and ideas. In this artist-led program, artists and their practice are matched to one of our beautiful studios and join a welcoming, innovative and diverse artistic community.

  • 9 studios – varying in size and suitability (depending on proposed activities).
  • Accessible 7 days a week, 9am–5pm.
  • No rental costs associated with the FAC Studio Program.
  • Artists are responsible for all costs related to studio activities.
  • Studios granted in 1, 3, or 6 month terms.
  • Located on the ground floor, upper levels (accessible by stairs only), and outdoors on FAC grounds.

FREMANTLE ARTS CENTRE RESIDENCY

Our Residency Program offers artists from international, national, regional and remote areas an apartment in Fremantle in addition to a studio at Fremantle Arts Centre.

Fremantle Arts Centre is the custodian of a beautiful residential apartment located at the Moores Building.

  • Fully contained, light-filled apartment with balcony.
  • Granted in durations of up to one month.
  • Situated within the historic West End of Fremantle.
  • Connected to the Moores Building – a FAC-run contemporary art studio and exhibition space located less than 2 kilometre’s from FAC.
  • No rental costs associated with the FAC Residency Program
  • Artists are responsible for all costs related to travel, living expenses and studio production.
  • Artists may receive resource support for public programming or other events related to their residency in negotiation with FAC.

We welcome proposals from individual artists, groups and organisations across all art forms for placement within the Fremantle Arts Centre Studio and Residency program. We strongly encourage artists of First Nations, CALD, LGBTQIA+ and disability communities with practices across disciplines to contact us.

FREMANTLE ARTS CENTRE AND INCHEON ART PLATFORM AIR RECIPROCAL EXCHANGE 2023

Our inaugural artist exchange program with Incheon Art Platform, South Korea provides the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for artists residing in Western Australia and South Korea to take part in a 3-month exchange program.

This year one WA artist will be selected to travel to Incheon to live and work at Incheon Art Platform for 3 months from September to November 2023. The exchange includes:

  • Return airfare between Perth and Incheon (transfers included).
  • $6000 to support studio costs and living expenses.
  • Independent living quarters and studio with shared kitchen and workshop facilities.
  • The opportunity to present your work in a 3-day open studio event late October, with support from IAP.

Incheon Art Platform (IAP) is a cultural and artistic complex built in Haean-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon as part of the Revitalization Project of the Old City Centre. The renovated historic port buildings form a creative hub that is IAP; a multi-faceted contemporary arts organisation that hosts National and International artists in a diverse artist in residence program across all forms of creative practice.
