Fiona Gavino is an artist who works with a broad range of textiles, fibres and natural or found materials to create sculptural, woven artworks that are beautiful as well as environmentally sensitive. The artist holds a BA in Visual Art from Charles Darwin University and has exhibited at FORM, PICA and the Museum and Art Gallery NT. Her classes provide a fun and practical introduction to weaving and textile techniques that will allow students to continue sourcing and creating their own beautiful works well after the class is over.
Fremantle Arts Centre is situated at Walyalup on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar. We acknowledge the Whadjuk people as the traditional owners and custodians of these lands and waterways and extend our respect to their Elders, past and present.
We offer our heartfelt gratitude to the Whadjuk community and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who continue to care for Country and share their knowledge – this generosity and wisdom helps us to understand and navigate Country safely and respectfully.
