New wave London icons The The are returning to Perth as part of their Ensouled world tour in 2024. After four decades of making music, the band will play their first Perth show in over 30 years at the Fremantle Arts Centre.
Known for hits like “This Is the Day” and “Uncertain Smile”, fans can expect to hear the favourites they know and love as well as some newer material. Born from the same scene that brought us New Order and The Stranglers, The The went on to achieve critical acclaim and commercial success around the globe. Their infectious sound spans a multitude of genres and topics, musing melodic synth pop with potent socio-political alt rock.
They broke through to the mainstream with 80’s albums Soul Mining, Infected and Mind Bomb, capturing audiences with their kaleidoscopic sound and fearless commentary on modern Britain.
Frontman Johnson was raised in the world of London nightlife and live music, forming his first band at 11 and scoring his first music industry job at 15. With his creative passions unable to be contained by one thing, Johnson is also a film soundtrack composer, publisher, broadcaster and political activist.
Johnson resurrected The The in 2018 for tours of the UK, Europe and the US, culminating in the Comeback Special live album and film. With tickets selling out within minutes of going on sale, it’s clear to see the fans have never left.
The The’s unwavering passion for urgent truth and freedom of expression has carried them through countless shifting landscapes. With decades of headline tours and massive festival spots under their belt, don’t miss your chance to witness post-punk royalty perform in Australia and NZ.
