Rein Mali’s first chapter unfolded in Boorloo (Perth) where he was born to Indonesian parents and raised a first-generation Indonesian Australian child listening to music whilst playing drums and singing in front of his parent’s church. The story behind his rich vocals and innate musical qualities lie in his deep rooted love and upbringing in gospel, soul and R&B music. The singer songwriter’s early interest and natural abilities in music motivated and inspired him to pursue a journey to better understand, enhance and further amplify his capacity and potential as a musician leading him to study a Bachelor of Contemporary Music. His journey brought him to better understand, amplify and appreciate what music meant for him – and how he could channel life, love and emotion through melody, harmony and rhythm.
