Mad About You was a big-hearted, public-led exhibition that celebrated Fremantle Arts Centre’s role as a creative and community hub and reflects on the influence it has played in many people’s lives.

In March 2013, FAC made a public callout for artworks, objects, photographs, personal recollections and multimedia that featured the Arts Centre throughout its forty year history or represented the affinity and connection many people have with the building. With a focus on how intrinsic the sense of place is to the way people experience FAC and its grounds, the gathered material was co-curated by City Of Fremantle Art Collection curator Andre Lipscombe and FAC director Jim Cathcart to form the basis of Mad About You.

While Mad About You included work from the City’s Art Collection and other well known artists, it also featured the works and memories of the general public and FAC’s broad, enthusiastic community of visitors and students. By bringing together material as diverse as You Tube gig footage, the recollections of well-known Fremantle residents and new works by local school students, the exhibition was intended to be forward-looking and multi-faceted.
