Lino and Reduction Lino Printing with Bina Butcher with Bina Butcher

Learn the art of lino printing; a form of offset printmaking. You will be introduced to the use of an etching press, learn how to carve and print lino, and explore how to create a reduction lino print in this new six-week course led by Bina Butcher. Reduction lino printing is a an exciting challenge where each layer of the image is carved away from the same plate, meaning you cannot go backwards! Have fun going forwards with lino!

Suitable for absolute beginners or for students with some experience in lino printing.

Materials:-

  •  A materials fee is included in the cost of the course

What to bring:-

  • Notebook & pen
  • Apron
  • Other items to bring along throughout the Term will be discussed ahead of class each week
  • Standard quality paper is provided for printing, if students require specialist printmaking paper they will be required to source and purchase their own, this will be discussed in class
  • Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons

Bina Butcher is a practicing artist based in Perth WA who has a focus on printmaking practices. Her workshops cover everything from printmaking basics such as monoprint, dry point etching, screen printing, embossing and woodcut; to more in-depth processes that can include chine cole', paper lithography, cyanotype, bookbinding and much more.
