Beginners Drawing With Sean Wain with Sean Wain

Starting from scratch, discover essential drawing skills in an encouraging environment. Learn observation skills, basic drawing methods and how to use different materials through exercises and demonstrations.

What to bring:-

  • Pencils: 2B, 4B
  • Hard eraser
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
  • 2 x A1 cartridge paper
  • A3 cartridge paper pad or 30 sheets
  • Box thin or medium willow charcoal
  • 1 x white pencil
  • Small notebook
  • 2 bulldog clips
  • Masking tape
  • Rags

Further materials may be required throughout the course (to be discussed in class in first few weeks):

  • Compressed charcoal
  • Blackboard white chalk or white pastel sticks
  • Glue stick
  • Coloured pencils
  • Coloured paper
  • Watercolours - if you already have them
  • Ink - if you already have

Tutor Sean Wain

Sean Wain has been teaching drawing and painting since 1986. He first exhibited at the FAC in 1993 with oil and watercolour paintings, exploring pattern, colour and architectural space.
