ROLE
Based at Fremantle Arts Centre (FAC) and working in close collaboration with the Manager of Arts and the Arts leadership team, the Curator & Collections Lead will curate the gallery program at FAC and lead the City of Fremantle Visual Arts team across the portfolios of public art, City collections, The Moores Building Arts Space and wider arts portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of arts programming in Fremantle and contribute to the growth of the sector more broadly.
FAC is a major multi-disciplinary contemporary arts organisation in Western Australia. Housed in an extraordinary gothic heritage building and lush leafy grounds, our annual program includes contemporary visual arts exhibitions, a diverse range of multi-disciplinary performance, music and conversations. The Curator’s role offers the opportunity to work within one of Australia’s leading arts organisations and to develop programs that contribute to Fremantle’s national and international identity in the arts.
The City is seeking a considered and experienced curator and leader who celebrates collaboration, diversity and difference and is committed to community and contemporary creative culture. The position reports directly to the Manager of Arts, City of Fremantle. Working together with the Manager, the position is also responsible for key funding partnerships with local, state and federal governments and organisations; and identifying and acting on advocacy priorities for the sector.

ROLE
The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a Marketing Officer for the Fremantle Arts Centre. The FAC Marketing Officer is Fremantle Arts Centre’s primary storyteller; planning, producing and reporting on content across all brand assets including socials, eDMs and the FAC website. This position creates communications and content which inform and engage FAC’s audience, represent artists with integrity, and strengthen FAC’s brand position as one of the foremost multi-arts organisations in Australia.
The role assists the FAC Marketing and Communications Manager as directed, to ensure all marketing, publicity, engagement and attendance objectives are met.
Key responsibilities
- Write engaging, accurate copy for FAC’s website, social media, e-newsletters, signage and other publications and promotional material.
- Identify story opportunities and publicity strategies to develop, implement and distribute.
- Develop engaging, progressive content for each program and assist in evolving FAC’s content marketing strategy. Content may include interviews, written profiles, photography of artists/objects, videos, podcast conversations etc.
- Manage and monitor the FAC website, event listings on third party websites and maintain all social media platforms.
- Provide monthly reports on performance which focus on areas such as audience engagement and experience.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders focusing on media coverage and publicity opportunities to engage with artists on upcoming projects.
- Liaise with stakeholders for exhibition openings, south lawn gigs and other events.
- Contribute to departmental and team goals and participate in organisational initiatives and activities as required.
