In Gallipoli: Earth & Sky WA artists Paul Uhlmann and Lev Vykopal transport audiences back to the battle of Gallipoli, depicting the earth and sky that soldiers from both sides would have witnessed on the peninsula.

Vykopal’s cold-cast bronze models of key topographical features across the Gallipoli Peninsula are exhibited alongside Uhlmann’s paintings of the night sky, as it looked on significant dates throughout the 1915 campaign.

This perspective highlights some of the common experiences shared by all involved in these battles – for regardless of side or rank, they were fighting under the same sky and treading the same earth.
