These quilts are the result of a project led by artists Frances Larder, involving twelve Australian women, all of Dutch heritage. Their stories are told through the textile medium, revealing experiences of celebration and estrangement. The project began as a way of expressing a shared experience. Each carefully hand stitched patch narrates an individual journey which includes migration to Australia, experiences of Dutch Indonesia, confrontation with war and their eventual resettlement.
This exhibition is produced by Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre, Sydney.
