In an exhibition of video and photography, Maria Fernanda Cardoso (Australia/Columbia) continues her curious observations of nature.

In the same vein as her performance project Cardoso Flea Circus at Sydney Opera House, the artist once again employs insect specimens as her performers, this time investigating the use of camouflage and mimicry. Troupes of insects form elaborate patterns against stark white backgrounds, playing between illusion, deception and recognition of the natural world.

Cardoso is a Sydney-based artist who graduated from Yale University, USA. She has exhibited extensively around the world including at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
