The Irregular Correct: New Art from Glasgow presented a line-up of significant contemporary artists from Glasgow, Scotland; showing painting, sculptural installation, performance and video.
From a gritty port town, Glasgow has evolved into an internationally renowned artistic hotspot and a major influence on British and European art. With several biennales to their names, and including artists from Saatchi Gallery’s exhibitionNewspeak: British Art Now, these artists helped to shape the Glasgow art scene over the last fifteen years.
Artists include Michael Fullerton, Iain Hetherington, Rob Kennedy, Sophie Macpherson, Alan Michael, Ciara Phillips, Alex Pollard, Clare Stephenson, Stephen Sutcliffe and Jane Topping.
Commissioned by FAC, The Irregular Correct was curated by Alex Pollard and Clare Stephenson. Graduates of the Glasgow School of Art, Pollard and Stephenson both live and work in Glasgow, and have collaborated on recent exhibitions Four Fantasies at the Pump House Gallery in London and The Dirty Hands at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Glasgow.
