Sunday Music: Mal de Mer + Heathcote Blue

Mal de Mer is a dynamic 5-piece Perth band that effortlessly glides between Funk, Indie, Soul, Pop and Jazz, blending them all together with an Australian twang; adding a flavour that isn’t commonly found in these genres. They are joined on the bill by Heathcote Blue, a solitary bedroom folk project for Boorloo-based songwriter Lyndon Blue, which expanded into a duo with sister Maddy Blue. They return after a few years hiatus with new members, a richer sound and a slew of new songs.

Sunday Music: Music in Exile presents Ausecuma Beats

Presented by Music in Exile – a not-for-profit record label representing artists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds – Ausecuma Beats are a nine-piece band comprised of members from Senegal, Mali, Cuba and Guinea. Fusing their diverse influences, Ausecuma Beats create complex rhythms which inspire your body to move, offering something incredibly danceable yet unmistakably unique.

If you need a midweek feel-good boost, look no further than FAC Yeah! Fremantle Arts Centre’s popular new choir is a wholesome high point in the week. Singing with a group of like-minded friends, new and old, makes you feel great. Led by local music sensation Natalie Gillespie, FAC Yeah! is a fun drop-in group where you can fill your lungs, and your heart, and have a ball singing.

The Bambuseae Rhythm Section are a retro-futuristic psych-funk and cinematic disco six-piece hailing from Fremantle, Western Australia. With a dash of blues rock lyricism and attitude to boot this charismatic gang of carousers have only one thing in mind; dancing your worries into oblivion. Armed with their motto "The People Must Dance” this energetic act is true to their word, stirring up the local music scene with their upbeat and memorable live shows.

Sunday Music: Nannup Festival presents Krui3ers + Nelson Oreeri

This special edition of Sunday Music is presented in association with Nannup Festival, and features celebrated Indigenous musical acts The Krui3ers and Nelson O'Reeri. The Krui3ers are an original four-piece rock band from the Mowanjum Community in the Kimberley with a high energy country rock style combining melodic chorus lines and distinctive guitar riffs. A proud Ngarinyin Man, Nelson O'Reeri's songs are about his connection to Country, spirituality, language, law and culture.

Sunday Music: Big Orange + The Mackerels

The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Davis, Big Orange evolves into a full band onstage, with Davis’ vocals, piano and guitar work complemented by life-long friends David Jago on bass, Emma Adams on synths and percussion, Jamie Gallacher on drums and Brother Chris Davis on guitar. They are joined on the bill by The Mackerels, a talented group of muso-friends, whose jangly indie-pop sounds and authentic storytelling reels you in from the first line.
