Duncan McKay is an artist, an arts researcher and an arts administrator and has been active in the visual arts in Western Australia since the late 1990s. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons.) from The University of Western Australia, a Master of Creative Arts from Curtin University, and a Doctorate in the sociology of art from Edith Cowan University. He has been a practising and exhibiting artist, and is the published author of academic papers drawing on his original sociological research on the working lives of artists in Western Australia. As well as enjoying creative practice, his interests include recent and contemporary Western Australian art and artists, and investigating the notion of value in relation to arts and culture.
