Weaving Sculptural Forms (Summer Special) with Fiona Gavino

Take weaving beyond its traditional application and learn how to shape and sculpt three-dimensional works using the random weaving technique and easily pliable pith cane. You will complete a woven sculptural artwork on the day and the tutor will be on hand to discuss any other natural fibres you may like to explore.

Materials:-

  •  A materials fee is included in the cost of the course

What to bring:-

  • Small round nose pliers, small wire cutters, or sharp secateurs
  • Students must wear appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes for safety reasons

Fiona Gavino is a nationally-recognised fibre artist who uses basket making materials and techniques in innovative ways. She has been teaching for over 15 years, her classes provide a fun and practical introduction to basketry that will allow students to continue sourcing and creating their own beautiful works well after the class is over.
