About the class

These sessions are designed to develop your skills and explore different styles and techniques while focusing on your original artwork, all within a friendly and supportive environment.

This class is ideal for advanced students who have completed an intermediate course in contemporary acrylics, as well as those with prior acrylic painting experience.

Join this studio-based class to work on your own pieces, receiving valuable feedback from both your peers and the tutor.

Through exercises set by Miles, you'll push your skills further while gaining insights into refining your individual style. Take your acrylic painting practice to the next level in a creative and collaborative space.

Prerequisites

A solid foundation in acrylic painting skills is recommended. This class is suitable for students who are ready to start creating original works and wish to refine their techniques and style.

What to bring

• A3 or A4 acrylic painting pad
• Palette
•  Synthetic small and medium square brushes, small and medium pointed brushes
• A3 or A4 canvas-covered boards (2) or canvas
• Pencil, water container, rag
• Acrylic paints (artist quality recommended: Atelier Interactive, Matisse, etc.):
  • Titanium White
  • Carbon Black
    
  • Phthalo Blue
    
  • French Ultramarine Blue
  • Lemon/Light Yellow (Cadmium)
  • Mid Cadmium Yellow
  • Cadmium Red
  • Quinacridone Magenta (avoid violet or bright versions)

Most acrylics are compatible, but note that Atelier Interactive paints lose their reactivation abilities when mixed with other brands. If you can’t find a specific colour, we'd recommend waiting for it.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
