About the class

Open Studio is the perfect opportunity for advanced painters to focus on their own projects in a supportive, creative environment. Spend 4.5 hours each week in Fremantle Arts Centre’s light-filled Painting Studio, where you’ll have the freedom to explore and develop your paintings at your own pace, with expert guidance from Jocelyn Gregson.

Whether you’re working on an existing project or looking for direction, Joss will help you refine and elevate your work, with the goal of pushing your skills to exhibition standard. This course is ideal for those interested in any style, from hyper-realism to abstraction.

Prerequisites

This course is designed for students who are ready to refine and extend their work. Participants should be prepared to focus on developing a personal approach to painting, with the potential goal of creating paintings suitable for exhibition. However, exhibition-ready work is not essential.

What to bring

• Palette(s), plastic water jar(s)
• Paints and usual equipment (bring your usual materials)
• Images and ideas to kickstart your project, such as a printout of a photo or reference image you’d like to work from
• Anything you need to get started or to develop your project further

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
