Gelli Plate Printing Taster (Summer Special) (NEW!) with Vanessa Lombardo
Course Sold Out
Join printmaker and tutor Vanessa Lombardo for this introductory, taster workshop where you will explore the playful process of Gelli plate printing. This workshop is suitable for beginners through to more advanced students looking to engage with a new way of making prints.
By using botanical and human-made textures and experimenting with a variety of mediums, students will create their first fun prints. These experiments will immediately demonstrate the possibilities of what can be achieved from the surface of a Gelli plate, which is essentially a monoprint. Students will learn to register a multi-layered/multi-coloured print, cut handmade stencils, learn how to image transfer, and add botanicals and other textures to create a collection of more complex prints.
Materials:
- A materials fee is included in the cost of the course. You will have use of a gelli plate for the workshop (but feel free to bring your own if you have one) and will be provided with instructions and recipe to make your own plate for future use.
What to bring:
- Notebook & pen
- Apron
- 2B or 4B pencil
- Own gelli plate (if you have one)
- iPad or other mobile device (to help with reference image search)
- Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons
