Drawing for the Absolute Beginner (Night)

Starting from scratch, discover essential drawing skills in an encouraging environment. Learn observation skills, basic drawing methods and how to use various materials through exercises and demonstrations. Last session is with a life model.

What to bring:-

  • Pencils: 2B, 4B
  • Hard eraser
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
  • cartridge A1 paper, approx. 3 sheets per class
  • 4 sheets A1 butchers paper
  • 6 A1/ large sheets butchers paper
  • Box thin or medium willow charcoal
  • Small notebook
  • 2 bulldog clips
  • Masking tape
  • Rags

Further materials may be required throughout the course (to be discussed in class in first few weeks):

  • Compressed charcoal
  • Blackboard white chalk or white pastel sticks
  • Glue stick
  • Coloured pencils
  • Coloured paper
  • Watercolours – if you already have them
  • Ink – if you already have
