Carpentry 101 with Women On The Tools (March 25)

Are you an artist who has only ever bought stretched canvases to paint on? Ever wondered if you could make your own, but don’t know? Learn how to work with wood, canvas, and the appropriate tools to create your own stretcher frame in this one-day Carpentry 101 workshop led by Janet Carter (JC) from Women On The Tools.

This workshop is aimed at practicing visual artists who are looking to extend their skill set and gain confidence by making their own basic stretched structures to paint on in a fun, relaxed, and inclusive environment. Under JC’s expert guidance, you will learn how to measure, cut, and join wood, before stretching canvas using canvas plyers and manual staple guns. No prior experience with carpentry necessary.

Provided: -
Machinery, wood, un-primed canvas, and canvas stretching pliers
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

What to bring: -

• Manual staple gun and pack of 10mm staples (Bunnings)
• Workshop participants must wear appropriate lightweight clothing, closed-toe shoes, and tie up long hair for safety reasons
• Lunch, snacks, and drinks (drinking water provided)
