BYO Basketry Project (NEW!) with Fiona Gavino

A class for anyone with an active interest in basketry and may have a small weaving project to start, continue, or problem solve! Join a likeminded group in the light filled Screenprint Studio with basketry expert Fiona Gavino, who will share her deep knowledge of basketry techniques in this new hands-on workshop that will refine your skills and give you a greater understanding of one of humanity's most ancient crafts.

BYO projects and materials, your tutor will bring a variety of plant fibres to share and discuss.

Materials:-

  •  A materials fee is included in the cost of the course

What to bring:-

  • Your basketry tools - scissors/secateurs/wire cutters, round nose pliers, darning needle or sailmaker needle
  • Your current basketry project and associated materials
  • Students must wear appropriate clothing and closed toe shoes for safety reasons

Tutor Fiona Gavino

Fiona Gavino is a nationally-recognised fibre artist who uses basket making materials and techniques in innovative ways. She has been teaching for over 15 years, her classes provide a fun and practical introduction to basketry that will allow students to continue sourcing and creating their own beautiful works well after the class is over.
