Big Abstract Oils with Stephanie Reisch (4 Weeks) with Stephanie Reisch

Delve into the wonderful world of painting big abstracts with oils in this new course! participants will be guided through the process of abstracting a landscpae from a reference image and then learn how to scale it up onto a canvas.

We will explore and expeiment with colour, tools, and techniques to create dynamic compositions that support the emergence of your own visual language. This course is designed to throw traditional landscape painting on its head in a fun and relaxed environment.

What to bring:

  • Oil paints:
    • Recommended: Titanium White, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Lemon Yellow, Ochre Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Phthalo Green, Lamp Black (Recommended brands - Art Spectrum or Langridge)
  • Art Spectrum Odourless Solvent 500ml
  • Art Spectrum Refined Linseed Oil
  • Willow charcoal (medium)
  • Fixative spray
  • Disposable palette paper
  • Palette knife
  • Round and flathead brushes in a range of sizes (bristle and synthetic)
  • Art Spectrum A4 canvas paper pad for prepatory studies
  • 1 x stretched cotton or linen canvas, approx. 100 x 100cm
  • Rags
  • Glass jars with lids
  • Apron or old shirt
  • Gloves (optional)

Born in Belgium and based in Perth, Stephanie Reisch is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, researcher and arts educator. Her practice references prehistory and natural phenomena through drawing, painting, sound and digital media.
