Creating Artist Books – Fremantle Library Turns 70 – FREE Workshop

Jenessa King begintadv

The City of Fremantle Library turns 70 in September. To mark this milestone FAC and City of Fremantle Civic Collection will partner with the Library to recreate a reading room of artist books made from discarded library stock .

The workshop:

Rifle through a mountain of discarded books collected from university and public lending libraries, to then create your own artist book. Choose whether to draw, paint, illustrate works on pages in 2-D or fold, rip, sculpt to create works in 3-D.

A large assortment of art materials and images for inspiration will be available to help you along your journey. A number of artist book techniques will be demonstrated by artist and FAC tutor Jenessa King who will be on-hand to help you with your work.

Pieces will then be displayed alongside COF’s Art Collection Artist Books in the public reading room created in Fremantle Arts Centre’s front foyer during the months of September & October.

This workshop is open to anybody over the age of 16, no matter what skill level. Bookings essential.
