Conditions of Entry
The Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award 2025 is open to all artists living and working within Australia, aged 16 or older as at 1 June 2025. Individuals are invited to enter one artwork only, using any printing process. The work is to be that of the submitting artist and have been made no earlier than 1 June 2023. Work in multiple parts are acceptable but it must be considered as a single artwork.
Note that only entrants between 16-25 years of age are eligible for the Young Emerging Print Prize.
Closing date for entries is 5pm AWST, Monday 2 June 2025.
Entry Process
All entries must be submitted online. Emailed submissions will not be considered.
Entrants are invited to submit one work. The online entry form will allow each entrant to submit up to five digital images of one artwork. We recommend entrants submit a complete image of the entire work, along with detailed images which may include an image of the work installed.
All images must be jpegs with the longest side of the image a minimum of 800pixels, maximum 5MB. Every image should have a filename with Surname underscore First Name underscore image number (1- 5).
E.g. Surname_FirstName_1.
Submitted entries will not be considered unless presented in the prescribed format.
All entrants must submit a short Biography / Artist Statement (100 words / 650 characters max) and information relating to the Work (150 words / 975 characters max).
Only selected entrants will be required to submit the physical work. No other support material should be included on the online submission.
Entry Fee
Entry fee is $50.00 (inc. GST). Entry fee is non-refundable.
Selection of Work
The judging panel of 3 industry professionals will view all entries received and will select works for exhibition. All entrants will be notified whether their work has been selected from Monday 23 June 2025.
Delivery & Freight
Selected work must be delivered to Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre by 5pm Monday 14 July 2025. All works must arrive in full, by the specified date, to be considered eligible for the exhibition and selection of prizes. Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre reserves the right not to exhibit a work if, in the opinion of the judges, the images and notes about the work and installation requirements submitted, are not an adequate representation of the actual work received.
The cost of artwork freight from the artist to Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre, is to be paid in full by the artist. Any unsold work to be returned after the exhibition will be at the expense of Walylalup I Fremantle Arts Centre. Any extraordinary freighting requirements are at the expense of the artist.
Care & Insurance
Artworks selected for the exhibition will be fully insured while in its keeping at Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre until Tuesday 21 October 2025 and while being freighted on return to artists. Local entrants may collect their work from Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre. Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre will not be responsible for unclaimed works after Tuesday 21 October 2025.
Publicity, Promotion and Copyright
Use & Reproduction of images:
1. No images of unselected entrants’ Work will be used.
2. All selected artists will be asked as part of their contract for 2 separate Permissions:
2.1 Permission Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre will use images of artists’ selected work for up to five years for the purposes of promoting the Award. This will not affect the selection or judging process of the Award. In promoting the Award, images may be used and distributed in print and digital marketing materials including Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre’s website and social media channels. Images may also be passed onto media outlets for publication alongside articles relating to the award. In all cases, the artist, work details and photographer (where applicable) will be credited where images appear.
Entrants selected for the award will be required to submit high resolution images of their work with the longest side of the image a minimum of 3000pixels. These images are for the purpose of the printed catalogue only. Full Copyright and Intellectual Property remains with the artist. Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre may use the winning artists’ bio for print and digital marketing materials.
2.2 Permission Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre will use images of work to publish an online, low resolution version of the Print Award catalogue. The catalogue will be available on Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre’s website archive in perpetuity, as an enduring record of the exhibition. No high resolution images will be published online for any purposes.
Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre will act according to the individual permissions granted by each individual artist.
Announcement of Winners and Exhibition Close
The winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition on Friday 15 August 2025. The exhibition closes 5pm Sunday 21 September 2025.
Sale of Works
The Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre Print Award is an acquisitive prize exhibition, and all exhibited work must be available for acquisition / sale.
A commission of 35% plus GST will apply all to sold works. All goods are held on consignment, with the Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre acting as the artist’s agent. The Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre is making an agency sale by selling consigned goods on behalf of the owner of the goods, the artist.
The Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre does not split commission with galleries on award exhibitions. By entering the Print Award the artist is entering a single agreement with the Walyalup I Fremantle Arts Centre. Where an artist has pre-existing representation with a gallery, it is up to the artist and the respective gallery to decide whether additional commission will be factored into the sale price.
