FAC CHATS with André Lipscombe

Started in 1958, the City of Fremantle Art Collection is the largest municipal art collection in WA with over 1,500 artworks which shine a light on Fremantle’s past and help us make sense of what it means to live and work in Fremantle today. Revealed Artist Spotlight: Ku’arlu Mangga

20 May 2020 News

Ku’arlu Mangga, meaning ‘good nest’, is a community centre that provides assistance to Aboriginal residents in Northampton, a town north of Geraldton. Four Ku’arlu Mangga artists were selected to be part of the 2020 Revealed Exhibition – Colleen Drage, Mauretta Drage, Beverly Peck and Leanne Peck. The group were supported by the Revealed Regional Exhibition Workshops program to make a new series of work for the exhibition inspired by the bushfoods, collecting vessels and animals of the region.

Peter Walker retires after 42 years

Peter Walker, the longstanding and much loved tutor of drawing and painting, recently retired from his role at FAC after 42 years of service. Peter was invited to teach and work in residence at FAC by Director Ian Templeman in 1978 and through his extraordinary tenure Peter has shaped the lifelong learning experiences and art values of thousands of people across WA. André Lipscombe caught up with Peter to reflect on his amazing, influential career.

Fremantle Art Centre Update

19 March 2020 News

In a measure to safeguard public health, the City of Fremantle has decided to close Fremantle Arts Centre, the Moores Building Gallery and other services from Monday 23 March until further notice. FAC’s galleries and our shop FOUND will be closed and our Adult and Kids course programs will be suspended. All concerts have been postponed, with new dates to be confirmed when this is possible. FAC’s grounds and Canvas Café will also be closed.

COVID-19 AND CHANGES TO REVEALED 2020 PROGRAM

14 March 2020 Media Release

Following the Federal Government’s 13 March announcement on COVID-19 and the ban on public gatherings of more than 500 people we are compelled to make changes to this year’s Revealed program. After discussion with the Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries, FAC advises that the Revealed Art Market (3 & 4 April) and the Revealed Exhibition Opening Night Event (2 April) have been cancelled.
