Moores Building Contemporary Art Gallery

Located in Fremantle’s historic west end, the Moores Building Contemporary Art Space (MCAS) is managed and curated by Fremantle Arts Centre. An arts and cultural hub in the heart of the city, MCAS offers regular visual arts exhibitions, workshops and performances.

MCAS seeks to promote a wide range of emerging and established contemporary artists by actively fostering the development of an experimental and highly innovative exhibition program. The gallery’s unique architectural design offers artists the opportunity to develop site specific installations. The building is a raw and rustic space with open ceiling cavities and inimitable heritage features.

CURRENT STUDIO ARTISTS

In this artist-led program, artists are matched to one of our beautiful studios best-suited to their practice for set periods 6 or 12 months and join a welcoming, innovative, diverse and collegiate artistic community.

EXHIBITION PROGRAM

Core to MCAS’s purpose is to offer subsidised art gallery space and associated support to artists, and to showcase a diverse offering of local and national contemporary work. We encourage artists to embrace experimentation, risk and ambition and are committed to supporting artists to develop new skills and approaches.

The MCAS program will provide subsidised art gallery space for up to 12 opportunities for artists, artist groups and independent curators to platform their creative works. Each exhibition will run for a two-week period and curatorial advice and installation support will be provided by Fremantle Arts Centre.
