Discover Printmaking – Step by Step Linocut

Linocut is a traditional, easy to learn printmaking technique that involves carving an image into linoleum. If printmaking appeals to you this is a great place to start. You’ll learn all about what kind of images work and how to carve them before making multiple copies using our print press. Linocuts typically produce striking black and white images but why not experiment with colour too? You’re in safe hands with expert tutor Shana James! She’s a highly regarded local printmaker known for her distinct, playful narrative style.

Ceramics Class

If you’ve never sat a pottery wheel before, don’t worry! Tutor Andrea Vinkovic will be there to guide you every step of the way in this fun, hands on course. By the end, you’ll have the basics of hand building, wheel throwing and sculpting down pat. Andrea will also run you through a number of ways to decorate and finish your pieces. This is the perfect introduction to ceramics, allowing you to sample the full range of techniques.

Beginners Contemporary Acrylic Painting

Acrylics are one of the most popular mediums and a great place to delve into painting. Our beginners course, taught by one of our most-loved tutors Miles Carpenter, is comprised of weekly exercises to help you with everything from mixing colour and using brushes of all different shapes and sizes, right through to composition tricks and techniques. Using all the skills you’ve developed, you’ll be all set to create a finished painting by the end of the course. Plus you’ll never feel daunted by a blank canvas again.

Jewellery Making Jewellery is cool. Making your very own jewellery is even cooler. In this fun one day course, master jeweller and local legend Max Butcher will show how to size, shape and design a set of rings, which you’ll make out of brass, copper or silver. You’ll head home with a stack of custom handmade rings to show off to your friends.

Creative Writing for Beginners

Think you’d be a fantastic writer but don’t quite know how to get the words flowing? Let yourself by guided on things word-ly by published author Marlish Glorie.  In this one day class Marlish will impart her wisdom and give you some great tips and tricks to get you started and help you to develop your unique voice. Drawing for the Absolute Beginner

The say a picture paints a thousand words, but what if you don’t know how to draw one? This is the class to try if you’ve always wanted to learn to draw but have never been sure how or where to start. Taught by local artist and upcoming FAC exhibitionist Caspar Fairhall, you’ll work your way through a range of drawing exercises. Plus you’ll get to watch Caspar in awe as he demonstrates a range of techniques.
